Shahin founded The DigiTimes, a digital, video news source driven by users’ takes on the news and daily events, in 2011.
Shahin describes his company’s goal as “a realtime digital newspaper of YouTube journalism.” The site features 12 news categories (i.e. US news, entertainment, politics, lifestyle) that all lead to a series of topical videos posted by users, combining both informative and opinionated newscasts.
Shahin has years of digital content experience, having worked at MarkMonitor, a division of Thomson Reuters IP Solutions, and Phoenix Red Digital. Shahin has also worked in the entertainment industry as a sales operations analyst and as a category management intern at 21st Century Fox, and as an antipiracy and strategic planning intern at the Motion Picture Association of America.
Shahin was born and raised in Los Angeles and has always had a great love of news, tech and entertainment. “I’ve always been driven to wrestle with the new, building out ideas until there’s something great on my hands,” he said of his new venture, which carries the tagline, “Your News. Your Perspectives.”
Shahin graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a bachelor of arts in political science.
