Alex, with his sister Courtney, launched a startup early this year that takes the hand-crafted building block toy several steps further. Remember those wooden blocks you played with as a child, building make believe cars and castles? Larsen Toy Lab customizes the block toys with the child’s name and integrates story books and puzzles into the experience to help young kids learn.
The idea for Larsen Toy Lab is a simple one, and it stems from a frustration of seeing the same cheap plastic imported toys on every shelf and every online shop. “With our combined experience in product design, engineering, marketing, and sales, we felt like we were in a position to do something about it – and after talking with friends and family it was clear that our toy pain was shared!” say the Larsens.
A entrepreneur program graduate, Alex now has started a crowdfunding Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds to take the start-up to the next level. The site makes it easy to learn his story, how he develops his products and exactly what he plans to do with the pledged money.
