Douglas has been named vice president of Avnet Velocity, a global technology distributor. Douglas returns to Avnet after 13 years as an international supply chain consultant, research strategist and academic. In this new role, Douglas will be responsible for helping Avnet expand its global supply chain practice for direct market customers and suppliers, which require unique solutions to match their growing levels of complexity and desire to mitigate risk.
Prior to his current position at Avnet, Douglas was president of eKNOWtion, a global supply chain consultancy, and director of InForum, a high-tech research and networking firm. Douglas’s previous career at Avnet spanned from 1992 to 1999, during which worked for the company as director of supply chain marketing and operations, director of client operations, and vice president at Avnet’s Integrated Materials Services in the U.S. and EMEA.
In addition, Douglas is currently the European director of the Supply Chain Council, and was an adjunct professor at the International University of Monaco’s MBA programs in operations, logistics and supply chain management. He’s also taught several masters-level courses in the areas of supply chain procurement, consulting and information systems at France’s SKEMA business school, and is one of a handful of SCOR(R) certified instructors.
Douglas is a 1991 MBA graduate from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management.
