The Graziadio School of Business and Management remembers Chief John Blount, III, of the Apalachicola Band of Creek Indians, who passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011. He was born January 9, 1946 in Mabank, Texas, the son of Fay Leon and Ethel Cook Blount, and grandson of John William and Dover Hyde Blount.
He held an associate’s degree from LA City College, a bachelor of arts degree in theater arts from UCLA, and an MBA from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management.
John was an active member of Woodhaven Presbyterian Church in Irving, a collectible artist, musician, accomplished actor, and playwright. For 20 years, he worked as public guardian for LA County, and later as a computer consultant for TI, IBM, and Sears.
He is survived by his children Michael Anthony Blount, and Rebecca Blount-Chastain and husband Josh; sisters Dr. Mary Blount, Dr. Dixie Blount Noble, and Gleni Blount-Rueff; and 20 nieces and nephews.
