Rick Dawson, MBA ’97

Rick was recently named president & CEO of Bal Seal Engineering, Inc. Rick is a degreed mechanical engineer with over two decades of leadership experience in manufacturing and technology organizations.

In his new position, he will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Bal Seal, a privately-held supplier of custom-engineered sealing, connecting, conducting and EMI/RFI shielding components to medical, aerospace, automotive and other industries worldwide. Rick  spent the early part of his career with an upstart Bal Seal Engineering in a small, Santa Ana, Calif. warehouse and said that he’s “glad to be back.”

From the very beginning, Bal Seal has played an exciting role in industry,” Rick said. “The company’s ability to combine the simple, elegant Canted Coil Spring™ with polymer sealing and metal retaining technology has enabled it to build a vast application knowledge base and help manufacturers solve some of the world’s toughest engineering challenges. It’s an honor to be part of that again, and I look forward to building on our success.”

Prior to rejoining Bal Seal, Dawson served as president of a Southern California die casting company.

He holds a BSME from California State University at Long Beach and an MBA from the George L. Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University.
