In Memoriam, Bill Sweezer, MBA ’96

Pepperdine University remembers Bill Sweezer, 53, a 1996 MBA graduate of the Graziadio School of Business and Management.

Bill died after a multi-car crash last weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina. Read the story here.

“He was always worrying about others right up to the moment he died,” Rev. Matt James said at the memorial service, where he read from memories provided by Bill’s wife and two sons.

According to friends, Bill always put his sons first. He was a good cribbage player, his family said, and a smart man who liked to read books about history.

He was the oldest son of William Ernest Sweezer and Janet Ann Sweezer.  Bill was the dedicated husband of Bobette for 17 years and he was the proud father of his two sons, Brandon (14) and David (13).  In addition to his wife and sons, Bill is survived by his mother, his brothers Donald, Thomas, and Richard, and his sister, Carol. He is also survived by his uncle, Alan Rordorf, cousins Kristin and Ingrid, numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family, one great-niece and three great-nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father.

Bill was born in Reno, Nevada, and lived as a youngster with his family in Germany, Greece and Alaska before they settled in California. Bill attended Cal State San Bernardino, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in business with a concentration in accounting in 1991. He earned his master of business administration degree from Pepperdine
University in 1996.

At the time of his death, he was employed by Wachovia in the finance business information technology department.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the William Sweezer Memorial Fund at any Wachovia or Wells Fargo Bank to benefit Bill’s sons.
