President Obama announced his intent to appoint Jim Crowe to chair the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee.
Chief Executive Officer of Level 3 Communications, an international communications company, Jim brings to the post 25 years of experience in leading companies in various portions of the telecommunications industry. Prior to Level 3, he served as chairman of WorldCom, following that company’s merger with MFS Communications Company in 1996. Prior to that, Jim served as CEO of MFS, a company he founded and took public in 1993.
At the time of its merger with WorldCom, MFS was the largest competitive local carrier in the U.S. and Europe.
Level 3 built the world’s first continuously upgradeable network fully optimized for internet protocol (IP). The company is one of only six Tier 1 Internet providers in the world and ranks as one of world’s most connected Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Expanding assets have solidified the company’s position as one of the largest IP transit networks in North America and Europe.
