Richard D. Cordova, MBA ’84

CORDOVARichard, president and chief executive officer of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, accepts this year’s Alumnus of the Year Award from California State University Los Angeles at a ceremony in his honor on October 21. The honor recognizes almost 30 years of a noble and prolific career of service in healthcare.

The CSULA Alumni Awards honor the best of CSULA. The awards pay tribute to alumni, faculty and students who manifest outstanding achievement in their professional fields, in service to their communities, in public service, in academic pursuits and in service to the University 

Richard began his association with Childrens Hospital Los Angeles in 2005 as president and chief executive officer and in 2006 he became a member of the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Board of Trustees.  As president and chief executive officer of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Richard brings nearly 35 years of diverse health care experience to Southern California’s oldest children’s hospital.  

Richard received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from California State University, Los Angeles in 1972.  He received an MBA from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management in 1984 and completed a PEW Fellowship at the National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems.
